Sean McVay had little to say after the Broncos beat the Rams 30-26 in primetime.

The Rams head coach left his postgame press conference after speaking for less than two minutes with Los Angeles media arriving as he was finishing his second answer.

Then, McVay left.

This caused a stir amongst media members as the Rams head coach seemingly ditched the postgame press conference. Nate Atkins of The Athletic revealed how shocking the move by McVay was in a post on X.

“Sean McVay ducked out of his press conference before Rams media could get into it, only 10 minutes after the final whistle. Not sure I have ever seen that in this league before,” Atkins wrote.

Rams Vice President of Communications Artis Twyman quickly countered the senior NFL writer on X.

“Again Nathan, I will not let you get on here and not represent the truth. In the press box, they announce that media that want to attend the post game news conference, leave at the five-minute mark. You chose to stay until the end of the game, which made you late,” Twyman wrote.

Given the intense nature of the game, the media likely stayed until the time ran out to witness whether the Rams would put together a last-minute comeback against Denver. Had beat writers left the press box with five minutes remaining in the high-stakes matchup, they likely would have missed key details of the finale.

Twyman added to the team’s justification of McVay’s terse postgame presser.

“Coach was already in there waiting on you, and then he left as you were arriving. Please, take some responsibility in the matter. How long should he have waited for you, sir?” Twyman wrote in a post on X as he Atkins went back and forth on the matter.

The suspect officiating throughout Sunday Night Football — especially with Rams cornerback Josh Wallace’s interception being ruled a defensive pass interference — likely contributed to McVay’s short fuse only minutes after the tough defeat for the Super Bowl favorites.

But the Rams and media both took a loss.
