Case Keenum put on a show in his first start in three years in the Bears’ 27-7 win over the Eagles, which included the 38-year-old scoring his first rushing touchdown since 2019. 

The veteran quarterback finished the game with 24 completed passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for six yards, including the fourth-quarter TD when he called his own number on third-and-goal and dove into the end zone. 

The effort by Keenum helped the Bears win their second game of the season, and it was the first time he had three total touchdowns in a game since the 2019 season opener, coincidentally against the Eagles during his time with Washington. 

To make the performance even more memorable, the “Monday Night Football” showdown was the first time Keenum was able to play in front of his two young kids. 

“Hopefully they stayed up. Hopefully they didn’t fall asleep over there. We kept it exciting for them,” he told ESPN’s Laura Rutledge after the game. “I’m going to have fun watching the game with them tomorrow on the couch, or probably just Bluey. They probably won’t want to watch it again. They’ll be like, ‘We saw it one time already, dad.’ 

“It’s so special. I love my family, my wife Kimberly. She’s been here the whole ride. I wouldn’t be here without her either.” 

The start had been Keenum’s first in 1,009 days since he was a member of the Texans and started in a 36-22 loss to the Browns on Christmas Eve 2023. 

Keenum found himself back in the starter’s role following the Week 2 injury to Caleb Williams during the Bears’ 9-3 loss to the Vikings. He suffered a hamstring injury during the fourth quarter of the game. 

“It was so much fun,” Keenum said on ESPN’s postgame show. “I’m going to remember this night forever. This is incredible.”
