Country superstar opening massive Las Vegas honky-tonk in iconic Strip spot — and it will have 7 bars
Luke Combs is whipping up a “Hurricane” on the Las Vegas Strip, and coming straight into Blake Shelton’s territory.
The country superstar‘s massive Category 10 honky-tonk will officially open Oct. 15 at the Flamingo Las Vegas, transforming the former Margaritaville into a three-story boozy country playground with seven bars, two stages and enough room for 800 people.
And it’s setting up a good old-fashioned country showdown on a busy Sin City corner.
Category 10 will open just down Las Vegas Boulevard from Shelton’s Ole Red, the sprawling honky-tonk that debuted in 2024 at the Grand Bazaar Shops.
The adult playground features a breezy 3,000-square-foot open-air rooftop dubbed “The Eye,” a Hurricane Bar facing the Linq Promenade and “The Still,” a lounge focused on top-shelf bourbon reportedly hand-picked by Combs himself.
The venue also includes a “Beautiful Crazy Women’s Lounge” — conveniently positioned next to the women’s bathroom — outfitted with vanity mirrors perfect for a quick touch-up and a dedicated champagne bar.
On the food front, diners can expect hearty Southern comfort food inspired by Combs’ home turf: Carolina smoked ribs, a Smoky Mountain fried chicken sandwich, and Carolina barbecue chicken flatbreads.
With the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo coming up in Vegas in December, country enthusiasts are already making plans to celebrate at Category 10.
“I’ll be there for NFR and plan to hit that dance floor every night,” one person commented on Instagram.
“Im gonna help break in that dance floor during NFR,” another added.
Since the launch plants Combs firmly in the middle of an escalating country boom, tourists might expect bad blood between the rivals. But, Category 10 and Ole Red are reportedly backed by the same operator, Opry Entertainment Group. Whether the two powerhouse venues will feast on each other’s crowds or supercharge the Strip with cowboy hats remains to be seen.
“I care a lot about this, it has my name on it and so I feel responsible for what happens when you walk in those doors,” Combs said earlier this year after touring the project. “It’s a place that’s cared about, it’s a place that wants you to be there and it’s a place that wants you to come back.”
Category 10 already has a location in Nashville, and a third location in Orlando is expected to open in late 2027.
