‘Big Brother 28’ star Drew Campbell reveals what the jury told him after emotional eviction: ‘Heartbreaking’
“Big Brother 28” star Drew Campbell found out he likely would’ve beaten Taylor Brown in the final two after his third-place eviction.
The 22-year-old surgical dental assistant exclusively told Page Six that he learned from the six other jurors at the live finale that if he was against Brown, things “might have gone well for me.”
“Which is kind of heartbreaking that I was that close,” he said. “But you know, it is what it is.”
Campbell explained that he blames himself for not winning the final Head of Household.
“That’s kind of where my strategy went wrong. I should have just won it,” he admitted. “Then maybe I would have won the whole thing.”
Campbell seemed poised to make it to the finale two, as Brown and Rick Devens both intended to take him there.
But after the pair struck a deal, Devens, who won the final HOH, shockingly evicted Campbell and took Brown, 27, to the end. The “Survivor” alum, 42, beat the elementary school counselor with six out of the seven jury votes, including Campbell’s.
Campbell told Page Six that Devens’ decision “definitely hurt in the moment,” considering his “‘Big Brother’ dad just cut me right at the end.”
“But I got to play ‘Big Brother’ for 87 days,” Campbell noted. “I got to be there the whole time. I got the full experience. Mentally, I’m just glad to be a part of it.”
Campbell also confirmed that he was never going to give his jury vote to Brown over Devens.
“Devens played the best game. If I cut him, I still think he was the best player and he should have won the game. So he was getting my vote no matter what,” Campbell explained.
“And it’s not even because I love him, it’s just because he played a really good game. I can’t even be mad.”
Campbell said the pair haven’t had a chance to speak since the finale, aside from a quick comment Devens made to him after winning the $750,000 grand prize.
“Right after the confetti, he hugged me and said he was sorry and he loves me, and I love him too,” Campbell told us. “No hard feelings, honestly.”
Campbell added of Devens’ family, “I’m excited to talk to Miss Becca, Jack and Juju, his family. I feel like I’m part of it now. I am their big brother.’”
