Taylor Swift crashes Dakota Johnson’s ‘SNL’ monologue: ‘My literal therapist’
Taylor Swift crashed Dakota Johnson’s “Saturday Night Live” opening monologue, joining her friend onstage as her breakup “therapist” in a surprise appearance.
Johnson poked fun at her “two very public, very lame breakups with two very awesome musicians” when the “Cruel Summer” singer suddenly joined her Saturday night.
“Some of them don’t wear shoes, some of them are terrible in bed. All of them are in my DMs. Not my fault, though. Some people leave concerts with merch, I leave concerts with a two-and-a-half-year relationship,” Johnson said as she compared her relationships to the theme of her new thriller “Verity.”
“But I have really good friends. They don’t judge me for dating these men. They’re actually really supportive,” Johnson added.
Swift then walked onto the 30 Rock stage to huge cheers.
“Ladies and gentlemen, my literal therapist,” Johnson said.
“I’m not your therapist, actually. You just show up at my house once a week with an empty bottle of wine and ask me if I want some,” Swift quipped.
“Yeah, I have manners,” Johnson said.
“And then you flop on my couch and overshare and every so often I just say, ‘Damn, that’s crazy.’ Then I go, ‘It’s late, I should really go to bed.’ And then you say …” Swift continued.
“Sleepover yay!” Johnson excitedly interrupted.
“Then I give you a Pedialyte and my security drives you home,” Swift said, patting Johnson on the back.
Johnson also joked that she is doing a public service by dating male musicians and saving women “a lot of money” on antidepressant Zoloft.
“So you’re welcome, America. Also England and parts of Ireland and Cleveland, allegedly,” she said, referencing rumors that she has been dating Machine Gun Kelly, a Cleveland native.
Swift whooped in response to the mention of Cleveland, the hometown of her husband, Travis Kelce, and where the couple plans to live.
Swift then excitedly pointed out that it was Johnson’s birthday as the actress kicked off the show.
This is the ninth time Swift has appeared on “SNL,” including as a musical guest for four shows, hosting once, and four cameos.
Johnson stars alongside Colin Farrell in Swift’s latest music video, “Patient Zero,” which Swift directed and co-starred in.
The video premiered during the MTV Video Music Awards last Sunday and follows Johnson and Farrell as an upper-class couple whose marriage appears to be falling apart.
Johnson’s dating history with musicians includes Noah Gersh, whom she dated from 2007 to 2010, followed by Drowners frontman Mathew Hitt from 2014 to 2016.
She dated Coldplay frontman Chris Martin from 2017 until 2025. In 2026, Johnson and musician Role Model split after less than a year of dating.
More recently, Johnson and Machine Gun Kelly have sparked casual romance rumors after reportedly hitting it off at Swift and Kelce’s wedding in July.
