What’s the secret to happiness? I don’t know — but you have to do something

How to relaunch your happy days

I don’t know Peter Wainberg. I only know that his PR elf Jesse Nash sends out elevators full of stuff hourly.

But this is interesting so I share it. Wainberg is a heart and health specialist.

Happiness, health, love? Wainberg’s asking: What do you really want? Everybody wants something.

So, Lesson One: Forget what annoys you. Got it? Like to know what really really creeps under your hairpiece.

Yeah, we know would be nice if your pesty neighbor could move. We got it.

But basically what would make you happy happy really happy to do?

Get out of bed — for WHAT?! To do WHAT?! To experience WHAT?

He asks: What is your unspoken desire? The down deep kind that survives inconvenience. We’re talking “Focus.” Give it attention. Wait not for some emergency room. Want to schlep around hiking? Lose weight? Gain weight? Find a lover? Buy fake hair? Lose that lover? Borrow someone else’s lover? Dump enemies? Make money? What is it?!

If it’s just a restaurant table by the window — shove it. Understand we’re now talking about your life.

Wainberg: Make plans. Change choices. Something you ignored yesterday — consider today. Want to walk? So — walk. Tennis? So get a racquet.

Everyone wants something. Smaller behind. Larger home. Whatever. Decide what you want. Note opportunities. Plan. Make choices. Give your brain a shopping list. Walk where you choose. Play rugby. Read Cindy Adams’ column. (No, this I personally added.)

He says to sit by a window, think, write it down. Don’t know what you want — don’t be surprised by what you get. Can be what annoys you, disappoints you, wants your cousin to shut up.

“I want to be happy,” they might say. Yeah, we all do. But beside your current desire to lie on a couch and dream, what would you really like?

If you sleep through all this — it’s your life going by. Life has a way of choosing you. Don’t wait for a hospital to tell you. Write it down — might be something only you can recognize. Find the desire. Give it a destination. Take the first step.

And stop cluttering up my inbox.

Latin loses Mass appeal in NJ

Newark’s Archbishop Cardinal Tobin has suspended a large traditional Latin Mass in his diocese.

Holy Trinity of Hackensack hosted a weekly Tridentine Mass — according to the 1962 missal — with a traditionalist choir that sang all parts of the Mass. Father John Perricone, a Catholic theologian who appears on podcasts and YouTube channels, was the officiant.

Cardinal Tobin, who suspended it leaving about 150 families in spiritual limbo, once said: “I understand why people feel banished from the church.”

But, says one theologian: “It’s the cardinal doing the banishing.”

God bless us, every one!

Note: Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” wouldn’t work today. Tiny Tim would have major medical coverage and Scrooge would be a candidate for the Conservative Party. Forget the government having a deficit. It’s called Being On The Take.

But be happy happy that soon cometh Halloween, Thanksgiving, crappy candy, Christmas and Return the Gifts Day. If you’re hunting for those Three Wise Men — look under the tinsel.

NOT only in New York, kids, not only in New York.
