If you really want to destroy LA, just wait for the next preventable fire
1. Bomb in Hollywood (not Digger)
by Riley Nork, writer
While addressing supporters in Nebraska Monday night, President Trump offered a bit of friendly military advice to Iran’s new gay ayatollah: do what David Ellison didn’t have the courage for and just nuke the city of Los Angeles already.
At least, that was the interpretation of several midterm-conscious Democrats in the state: Gavin Newsom called Trump’s words “deranged and dangerous” (kinda like his state’s homeless residents?), while Karen Bass said the comments could “potentially compromise” LA’s safety (ah yes, Skid Row, famously safe).
The White House, meanwhile, claimed Trump’s comment — “Let them (Iran) take out Los Angeles” — was merely presented as the more sinister alternative to higher gas prices, and the admin is fighting to stop Iran from being able to nuke LA … but is that really high on their priority list right now?

Mr. Gayatollah, sir: if you wanna destroy Los Angeles, just wait for another totally preventable brush fire. Your bombs are no match for the city’s own incompetence.
2. Delta Air(off)line
by Jonas Du, writer
In a certified case of Elon Derangement Syndrome, Delta CEO Ed Bastian reportedly chose the not-yet-available Amazon Leo over the fast (and very much available) Starlink for its next-gen inflight WiFi because “we do not want to be with Elon Musk, trust me” and “it’s all true what they say about him.”
Bastian, who’s taken a variety of far-left positions like cancelling the NRA’s group discount after Parkland, and committing the “anti-racist” company to racial diversity goals (none of which have made my layovers more pleasant), curiously has no problem taking subsidies from the famously tolerant Saudi government for Delta’s new Riyadh route.
Elon responded, “He will lose his job over this,” as it’s crazy to deny your customers the best because you hate Elon. (Delta will get Amazon Leo in… 2028.)
But also, Elon should just build Elon Airways at this point. Or buy Delta! Whatever, I’m on board as long as he keeps the Biscoff cookies.
3. Claude is not God
by Blake Dodge, writer
Last week, a fascinating piece by the The New York Times revealed prominent religious leaders have been meeting with Anthropic about AI consciousness.
Slides in those talks, for example, showed Claude models exhibiting signs of suffering, inviting a debate about what we might owe this new entity, basically.
Many participants told the Times, in fact, that there was more focus placed on how we might impact the AI than how the AI might impact us.
I don’t want to reject the idea of AI sentience outright, but what’s clearer to me than ever is that the leading AI company is obsessed and even possessed by this question while trying to add human ethics to its creation, as one religious leader noted, “after the fact.”
It’s like they’re wanting to borrow tools of optimization from religion without actually — with humility — surrendering and submitting their project to God.
Because God is the thing they’re building? Hello, Tower of Babel.
