UCLA vs. Oregon prediction, odds: The Ducks can’t afford another stumble
There were plenty of people predicting that Bob Chesney would be the next Curt Cignetti, and so far those folks look pretty smart.
After taking over for Cignetti at James Madison and leading the Dukes to the College Football Playoff, Chesney has completely flipped the script at UCLA in his first year at a Power 4 program.
The Bruins are 4-0, have scored 45 or more points in three of their four victories, and are ranked No. 21 in the country ahead of their trip to Eugene on Saturday afternoon.
UCLA will also catch a huge break this weekend, as Oregon quarterback Dante Moore has been ruled out of the game after taking an illegal hit in the Ducks’ win over USC in Week 4.
Despite all of that, Oregon is still laying 11.5 points in this tilt.
UCLA vs. Oregon odds, prediction
It may seem lofty to install the Ducks as double-digit favorites without one of the best quarterbacks in the country, but they’ve got a terrific backup in Dylan Raiola.
A junior who spent the last two seasons under center for Nebraska, Raiola could have started at plenty of Power 4 programs this year, but he opted to become an understudy at Oregon to work with head coach Dan Lanning.
He’ll be back in the spotlight sooner than expected, but he should be confident after leading the Ducks to a win over USC after Moore exited the game. The junior QB completed 19-of-25 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns in the effort.
Even without Moore, the offense isn’t a huge concern for Oregon.
The defense, however, has to sort itself out.
The Ducks were a machine without the ball in recent years, but things have gone awry in Eugene in 2026. They rank 73rd in yards per play allowed against FBS opponents, and SP+ pegs them as the 26th-best defense in the country. That’s fine for most programs, but not for one with national championship aspirations.

UCLA’s explosive offense, led by former Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava, should ask plenty of questions of Oregon’s defense, and the inverse will be true when the Ducks have the ball.
This game should break open.
