Warriors star fires off defiant 2-word message after $110 million extension
The Warriors are not playing games when ensuring their star guards are signed.
Golden State agreed to a two-year, $116 million contract extension with Steph Curry at the end of last month, which should guarantee the NBA legend retires with the Warriors.
And on Saturday morning, news broke that Golden State signed guard Brandin Podziemski to a five-year, $110 million contract extension.
Podziemski (better known as “Podz”) wasted no time celebrating this deal on social media. He posted a graphic announcing the extension to his Instagram Story on Saturday and added the caption, “gods timing ❤️”.
Podziemski has cemented himself as a key part of the Warriors’ roster since they selected him with the No. 19 pick of the 2023 NBA Draft.
He averaged 13.8 points in 28.5 minutes per game last season while playing in all 82 regular-season contests. His 45.5 field-goal percentage was also the highest of his career across a full season.
The jury is still out on the Warriors being competitive in the Western Conference this season. What’s for sure is that they’ll need Podz to not only produce but potentially continue developing into an elite offensive threat if they’re to make any noise in the postseason.
