Odell Beckham Jr. inactive for first Vikings game vs Saints

Odell Beckham Jr. has a new team, but he’s not getting any more playing time.

Beckham, who signed with the Vikings on Wednesday, is inactive for Minnesota’s road game against the Saints on Sunday.

The 33-year-old was not activated despite Jordan Addison missing out due to a hamstring injury.

Beckham Jr. arrived in Minnesota eight days after the Giants abruptly released him. The Vikings bolstered their receiver room, which has struggled with injuries to key players like Addison and Justin Jefferson.

The Vikings welcomed back Jefferson, who missed last week with an ankle injury.

Beckham Jr., a Louisiana native, had to experience his homecoming at the Superdome from the sidelines. He has had memorable performances in New Orleans, including a 2015 game in which he recorded 130 receiving yards and three touchdowns on eight catches.

Beckham Jr. returned to football this season for the first time in two years.

After tearing his ACL in Super Bowl 56 with the Los Angeles Rams, the three-time Pro Bowler became a veteran option for the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. During this span, Beckham Jr. has 44 receptions for 620 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 26 regular-season games.

The 11-year veteran made three appearances with the Giants this season but hasn’t recorded a reception yet, being targeted only once.

Beckham Jr.’s next opportunity to debut for the Vikings will be Week 6 at U.S. Bank Stadium against the Indianapolis Colts.
