Fast-moving wildfire erupts in LA County as homes evacuated

A fast-moving wildfire erupted in Southern California on Sunday afternoon, prompting evacuation orders as firefighters scrambled to contain the growing blaze.

The Bike Fire broke out near Golden Valley in Santa Clarita and had scorched approximately 200 acres by 2:40 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The Angeles National Forest warned the fire was behaving erratically, with mandatory evacuations ordered in three zones and evacuation warnings issued for four others.

The fire began near Cambria Estates Lane and Ravenhill Road shortly after 1 p.m. and quickly exploded to 200 acres within the first hour. KNN

Aircraft were being mobilized to help crews battle the flames, authorities said.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
