Mike Evans’ trash talk delivers a viral highlight in 49ers’ big win

Mike Evans wins meme of the week.

Seahawks cornerback Trevon Diggs was seemingly talking trash to the 49ers wide receiver, who looked at the back of Diggs’ jersey as if he didn’t know who he was. Diggs, who was elevated from Seattle’s practice squad, proceeded to take a swipe at Evans’ face mask but was not called for a penalty.

Evans signed a three-year, $42.5-million deal with the 49ers in the offseason and has been the perfect pass-catching weapon for quarterback Brock Purdy in 2026.

San Francisco is now 5-0 with a huge 32-29 victory over the Seahawks Sunday. Despite dealing with broken ribs, Evans was a huge difference-maker in the NFC West showdown.

“It’s just what I’m here for … Nothing’s really promised in this game and if you’re available to play and go out there for your team and do your best to help get a win, I mean, that’s what I’ma do,” Evans said on why he decided to suit up while dealing with injury.

The veteran posted 113 yards on seven receptions with a touchdown. Evans also managed to create the NFL’s most trending meme of Week 5.

His handling of the 49ers-Seahawks rivalry is evidence he’s really acclimated to playing for San Francisco.

“He’s pretty funny,” Trent Williams said of Evans’ viral interaction. “Mike plays with an edge, something that you wouldn’t expect your receiver to have. But that was pretty funny.”

Evans and the 49ers remain unscathed through five weeks of the NFL season with a monumental win over the reigning Super Bowl champions.
