Eagles kicker, GM’s furious reaction to mind-boggling decision caught on video in brutal loss

It was a long flight back from London to Philadelphia.

After taking a 17-16 lead with eight seconds left in this week’s game abroad in the United Kingdom, the Eagles foolishly kicked the ensuing kickoff deep to Ameer Abdullah, who returned it 52 yards to set up a game-winning field goal.

Jacksonville would go on to win 19-17 in a wild ending, while Eagles kicker Jake Elliott and general manager Howie Roseman were irate on the sideline as captured on video.

Elliott furiously threw his helmet on the sideline as Cam Little drilled the game-winning 57 yard field goal as time expired.

Meanwhile, Roseman had a bit more muted of a reaction, which is arguably worse.

Roseman can be seen in his tan jacket furiously storming off the field without talking to a single member of either team as he digested the loss that looked like a shocking victory just moments before.

Roseman also crouched to his knees and appeared to scream in the clip posted on social media.

After the game, coach Nick Sirianni took responsibility for the loss, adding that he told Elliott to kick the ball to the Jaguars and not out of the back of the end zone.

“I didn’t make the right decision, and I lost us that game,” Sirianni said postgame.

Had Elliott just kicked the ball deep out of the end zone, the Jaguars would have had the ball on their 35-yard line with no timeouts, needing to gain at least 20 yards and get out of bounds inside seven seconds.

After a tumultuous week for Philadelphia, which included the retirement of future Hall of Fame tackle Lane Johnson and the trade of starting center Cam Jurgens to the Ravens, Roseman said they were not losing faith this season.

“Since Coach [Sirianni] has been here we’ve made the playoffs five times and have been to two Super Bowls,” Roseman said.

Sunday morning’s disastrous loss will do him no favors, though, as they prepare to host the Panthers on Sunday back at home.
