Footage of Beach Boys’ Mike Love sitting during performance goes viral as he battles ‘serious’ health challenges

Beach Boys fans were left concerned when frontman Mike Love — who is battling “serious” health issues — mainly sat slumped on stage during a concert.

The Beach Boys, along with special guest John Stamos, performed at PNC Pavilion at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Saturday where Love was helped onto the stage.

“He has been going through some health issues and he’s had to cancel some shows, but he would not miss tonight, I’m telling you,” Stamos told the crowd before bringing Love out, per a fan video.

“We sort of said, ‘Maybe you stay home for this,’ and he was like, ‘No, I’m going to Cincinnati.’”

Once on stage, the 85-year-old singer was helped into a chair by the “Full House” alum.

Despite having to stay in the chair throughout the performance, Love still sang some of the band’s biggest hits as the crowd cheered for him.

Fans also expressed their support and sadness for the legendary musician in the comments section.

“It breaks my heart to see Mike so sick. I’m glad he’s able to do what he loves most at least, it seems like they’re trying to lift his spirits which is sweet. Sending Mike all the love and well wishes! I hope he gets better soon!” one wrote.

A second added, “He’s earned the right to go on stage, no matter what any of us think. Mike, wish you the best!”

“Made me sad and happy at the same time,” a third commented.

On Sunday, Stamos gave a concerning update on his pal and mentor’s health.

“My beloved friend, father figure, musical hero and mentor, Mike Love, is facing serious health challenges,” the actor wrote via Instagram.

“We hope he’ll be doing what he loves for years to come, but we don’t know what the future holds. We have tonight.”

Stamos, who has been performing various shows with the Beach Boys since the ’80s, called Love a “fighter” and confessed doctors told him to “focus on his health.”

“The Mike Love we see tonight may not be exactly the Mike we’ve always known. But he’s still every bit the Mike we love.”

Love, notably, is the only original member still touring with the band.

Brian Wilson, the group’s co-founder and creative force, died of respiratory arrest in June 2025. He was 82.

Original drummer Dennis Wilson died from drowning in 1983, while original guitarist Carl Wilson died in 1998 after battling lung cancer.

Last month, the Beach Boys abruptly canceled several concerts just one day before they were scheduled to return to the road from a two-month break.
