When Will ‘Other Mommy’ Come to Streaming?
Low-key Scream Queen Jessica Chastain’s latest horror project Other Mommy is cleaning up at the box office, where it opened number one in North America over the weekend, grossing $27 million in a single weekend despite some negative reviews.
But there are a heck of a lot of movies out right now, from the waning days of Digger and The Social Reckoning to holdovers like Primetime and Heart of the Beast to the about-to-open likes of Street Fighter and Whalefall. No one could blame you for wanting to save the domestic horror of Other Mommy for the comforts of the couch.
And if the movie had flopped, it might have been available at home well before Halloween. But with the movie doing well in theaters, it gets a little trickier to predict when Other Mommy will pop up (much like Other Mommy herself!) on streaming. But we can take a shot!

When Will Other Mommy Be Available to Stream on PVOD?
Other Mommy hails from Universal Pictures, a genre mainstay thanks to its rich history with the Universal Monsters (and more recent frequent home to many Blumhouse productions). Earlier this year, they lengthened their theatrical window following a drastic shortening in the aftermath of the pandemic. For several years, the studio had only guaranteed a minimum of 17 days in theaters of theatrical exclusivity (although bigger hits might have that extended further). That’s the equivalent of three weekends. This past spring, they expanded that minimum to five weekends, meaning that every Universal Pictures release will have at least 31 days in theaters before being made available on PVOD.
Again, that’s not a hard rule for every release. The Odyssey hails from Universal, and that movie has been exclusively theatrical for 88 days and counting. (It re-entered the top ten at the box office this weekend as it returned to IMAX screens.) By the time it hits VOD rental in late November, it will have been in release for around 120 days.
Then again, that’s a Christopher Nolan movie, and one of the year’s biggest hits; outliers don’t come from much further out than that. Universal’s other movies, from hits like Disclosure Day to flops like One Night Only, have more or less abided by that five-weekends rule. Because video releases typically launch on Tuesdays, that would put Other Mommy on PVOD on Tuesday, November 10th. (So, yes, still slightly before The Odyssey!) That’s not an officially announced date, but it will likely be around then.
When Will Other Mommy Stream for Free on Netflix, Prime Video, or Peacock?
Well, first of all, it’ll be Peacock; that NBC/Universal streamer is the first stop for all Universal Pictures releases, though they have been going to Prime Video after four months on the streamer. (That will be Netflix starting at some point in 2027.)
Four months is also about how long it takes between a movie’s theatrical release and its Peacock debut. That’s been the case for just about every Universal release this year (again, excepting The Odyssey). That means that Other Mommy will likely hit Peacock sometime around February 10, 2027.
If you don’t have Peacock, Other Mommy will likely hit Netflix around June 2027. Probably. Other Mommy has a way of popping up unexpectedly!
Peacock currently offers two subscription types: Premium with ads and Premium Plus ad-free. Peacock Premium costs $12.99/month, while Premium Plus costs $19.99/month.
You can save a bit by subscribing to one of Peacock’s annual plans, which give you 12 months for the price of 10. These cost either $129.99 with ads or $199.99 without ads.
Peacock Premium Plus is also available to subscribe to via Prime Video with a seven-day free trial that you can’t get by subscribing directly on Peacock.
