‘Breaking Bad’ star RJ Mitte’s loved ones ‘in shock’ over tragic suicide: ‘Very big loss’

RJ Mitte is being remembered for his kind heart by those knew him best, including those from his Brownville, Texas community.

“RJ was a beloved member of our community, and his passing has left us shocked and heartbroken,” Cameron County Justice of the Peace Judge, Cyndi Hinojosa, told Page Six exclusively.

“His family has deep roots here, dating back to his grandfather. In recent years, RJ built on those connections, becoming actively involved with local residents and the arts community and helping open a cultural museum. He meant so much to this community, and his loss will be deeply felt.”

The “Breaking Bad” actor died on Monday at 1:32 p.m. He was 34 years old.

“I have sent the body for an autopsy in Harlingen at Valley Baptist,” Judge Hinojosa added.

“Dr. Elizabeth Miller will be the person to be able to confirm the manner in which he died.”

Mitte passed away in Texas, where a Justice of the Peace functions like a medical examiner when certain counties in the state do not have a dedicated medical examiner’s office.

According to TMZ, Mitte, who was a disabilities advocate and lived with cerebral palsy, died by suicide.

The investigation into the actor’s death is still ongoing.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,” a rep for Mitte shared with Page Six.

“RJ Mitte was best known for his role as Walter ‘Flynn’ White Jr. on AMC’s critically acclaimed, award-winning series ‘Breaking Bad.’ Drawing from his own experience living with cerebral palsy, Mitte brought authenticity to the role and built a platform on disability awareness and inclusion.”

According to his rep, Mitte served as a proud ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s.

“He also served as president of The Mitte Foundation, supporting philanthropic efforts and community initiatives, while using his platform to challenge stereotypes and promote greater representation for people with disabilities.”

The statement concluded, “At this time, we ask people to respect the privacy of RJ Mitte’s family and close ones.”
