Luxury real-estate Alexander brothers face life in prison over ‘sex crimes of extraordinary magnitude’

Federal prosecutors are seeking life in prison for former luxury real-estate brokers Tal and Oren Alexander and their brother Alon, arguing their decade-long scheme to assault and rape women deserved harsh punishment.

In a court filing Wednesday, prosecutors argued a life sentence was appropriate because the brothers were convicted of “sex crimes of extraordinary magnitude” – noting that more than 70 women reported being assaulted by the sick trio and nearly a dozen testified against them.

The Alexander brothers “spent years designing, executing, and perfecting their playbook of luring victims with promises of luxury, drugging victims so they could not resist, and then forcibly raping them,” the feds wrote.

“The defendants carried out their playbook time and time again, drugging, raping, and assaulting dozens of victims.”

Oren and Alon Alexander, 39-year-old twins, and their brother Tal, who is a year older, were found guilty of all 10 counts they faced – including two involving minors – after a five-week trial earlier this year.

Prosecutors told the jury the brothers lured women to exclusive parties, Hamptons mansions and New York City apartments, as well as a ski trip to Aspen, Colo., and a Caribbean cruise, where they drugged and sexually assaulted or raped them.

Tal and Oren once worked as brokers on some of the most lavish residential property sales, calling themselves the “0.1% of brokers that really sell to the 0.1% of clients.” Alon worked at the family’s private security firm.

Lawyers for the Alexanders submitted their own sentencing recommendation on Tuesday, arguing that 15 years – the minimum required by law – was sufficient.

They wrote the brothers admitted to behavior that was “at times, insensitive towards the feelings of certain women at certain times” and apologized “to the women they insulted or offended” – but “steadfastly maintain their innocence.”

“At no time did Alon, Oren or Tal rape or sexually assault another person,” the lawyers wrote. “At no time did Alon, Oren or Tal entice, harbor, or maintain a woman to have commercial sex. At no time did Alon, Oren or Tal administer a drug or other substance to a woman against her will or without her knowledge.”

They also argued that a life sentence would be particularly severe considering the brothers have young children, writing: “It is hard to imagine a more powerfully punitive consequence than to condemn a new parent to miss the entirety of their children’s childhoods.”

A sentencing was scheduled for Oct. 27. US District Judge Valerie Caproni, the presiding judge in the case, has also scheduled a hearing for next week to consider whether the brothers should be assigned to the same or separate prisons.

The trio’s legal team has argued the brothers should be kept together, writing: “All that Alon, Oren and Tal have to ensure each other’s safety and mental health is each other.”

A jury found the Alexanders guilty on all counts in March, after hearing a damning trove of evidence including vulgar messages about needing to “hunt” more “prey;” a vile rape blog set up by friends of Oren and Alon; and graphic video footage.

During the trial, jurors were shown a clip appearing to show Oren raping a drugged 17-year-old girl in 2009 at a Manhattan apartment he shared with his brothers. At another point, prosecutors showed a photo of a 16-year-old, sleeping topless, that was found on one of the brothers’ laptops.

Jurors also heard testimony from 11 victims describing sexual assaults by the brothers between 2008 and 2021.

The brothers were arrested on sex trafficking charges in December 2024.
