Death of NYC autistic man found in family’s home ruled homicide as police eye mom
The death of a 25-year-old autistic man found slashed to death inside his family’s Queens home has been ruled a homicide — as cops continue to investigate if his mom was the killer, sources said.
Bryan Wong, who was nonverbal, was found by his dad with slit wrists and a gash to his neck in the family’s Woodside home on Wednesday – shortly before his mom, Suk Kuen Wong, 61, leapt off the Van Wyck Expressway in an apparent suicide attempt, law enforcement sources said.
Police have not made an arrest or identified a suspect — but are investigating the victim’s mom.
Cops responded to the three-story walk-up apartment building on 59th Street near Laurel Hill Boulevard around 8 a.m. after the slain man’s dad found him bloodied on a pull-out couch, police and sources said.
The victim, who is autistic and nonverbal, had suffered cuts to both his wrists and a wound on the left side of his neck, and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police
At least three knives were recovered from the home.
The grisly discovery came four hours after Bryan Wong’s mother was found lying in the street under the Van Wyck Expressway with a fractured pelvis and femur — and her disabled gray Hyundai found abandoned on the northside of the busy road above.
The injured woman was hospitalized and listed in stable condition.
Police have not identified her as a suspect, but are investigating whether she may have been involved.
The disturbing crime shocked neighbors, who described the Wong family as friendly and quiet.
“They’re very quite nice family,” one local resident said. “I never hear anything wrong with them before. It is very sad because I’ve been living in this area for almost 31 years. I have seen this boy growing up. So, he was like, to me, as a son.
“When you living in together in one area, we feel like it’s a family, together, community, there,” they said. “I don’t expect that it could happen in an area like that. To us, it’s very sad.”
