Julian Sayin to miss multiple weeks after suffering injury in Ohio State crusher

Ohio State will miss Julian Sayin for several weeks with an injury suffered in the fourth quarter of the Buckeyes’ 19-15 win over No. 5 Indiana on Saturday afternoon, leaving the nation’s fourth-ranked team without its star quarterback during a pivotal stretch of the season.

Sayin exited with about five minutes remaining after taking a hard hit from Hoosiers defensive tackle Mario Landino, resulting in a strip-sack. The 2025 Heisman finalist’s throwing arm was pinned during the collision, and he winced in pain.

Head coach Ryan Day told reporters after the win that he expects Sayin to miss multiple weeks.

Backup Luke Fahey entered to finish the down-to-the-wire matchup between two top-five teams. Sayin returned to the sideline wearing a sling. Ohio State generated no offense on Fahey’s two possessions and punted both times.

Before leaving, Sayin completed 15 of 29 passes for 235 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

His biggest play was a 38-yard pass to receiver Jeremiah Smith that put the Buckeyes ahead by double digits on a fourth-and-1 early in the fourth quarter.

Sayin has enjoyed a stellar junior season, throwing for 2,007 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Ohio State now faces a challenging stretch without him: a road game against No. 19 USC, followed by matchups with Oregon and No. 25 Northwestern at home in Columbus, then a trip to Nebraska to take on the Cornhuskers.
