Mark Wahlberg’s brother Donnie’s private jet skids off runway at Las Vegas airport — as he shares video
Actor and singer Donnie Wahlberg narrowly escaped tragedy after his private jet skidded off the runway at Las Vegas‘ Harry Reid International Airport Sunday.
The “Blue Bloods” actor shared an emotional video after the incident, in which he revealed the moments before the plane came to a stop.
“We were taking off and didn’t get up in the air, and ran out of runway. I’m just going to tell you these pilots saved our lives. And God covered us,” Wahlberg said in an Instagram video.
Grateful to be alive, Wahlberg said the incident could have been much worse.
“I’m not sure how many fences we avoided, but we didn’t avoid the last one. But we avoided those trucks and heavy equipment and the dumpsters behind that,” he said, adding, “God is good.”
Wahlberg was on board the private jet with his friends and team. He said that the “plane did take some lumps –– but we did not.”
The FAA confirmed to PEOPLE that the private jet had eight people on board at the time of the incident. The aircraft, a Dassault Falcon 50 with tail number N200SG, was departing from Runway 1L for Toronto Pearson Airport in Canada at about 11 a.m. Sunday when it skidded off the runway.
A flight-tracking map shared on social media by Red Wave Press showed the jet moving slowly from its taxi position and turning onto the runway.
The plane then continued past the end of the pavement, veered right, and came to a complete stop. Reps from the airport said the aircraft struck the perimeter fence.
Wahlberg was leaving Las Vegas after wrapping a 40-show run with his group New Kids on the Block — featuring Danny Wood, Joey McIntyre, Jonathan Knight and Jordan Knight — who played the final night of their “The Right Stuff” residency Saturday, reported TMZ.
