David Pollack gives ‘stunning’ update on wife’s cancer fight: ‘We don’t understand it’

Georgia football great David Pollack and his wife, Lindsey, received great news amid her battle with brain cancer.

Pollack, who is a former college football analyst for ESPN, explained in an X post on Sunday that Lindsey underwent a biopsy and her pathology results showed no signs of a tumor — which stunned her doctors.

Lindsey previously underwent a six-hour craniotomy surgery for stage 2 glioma in March 2025.

“Update on my Babydoll. Man I hope this encourages someone in the battle today,” Pollack wrote. “Thank you isn’t enough to all of you that have been praying for us. No greater gift you can give someone.

“Her oncologist called me Friday during our HS football game. He left a voicemail that said this, Um, the results came back stunning. Like, no tumor. I mean, it’s, it’s, we don’t completely understand it. But give me a call and I’ll explain what we think maybe going on and tell you how we resume.

“He doesn’t understand, but we do… GOD and PRAYER!!!! Thank you for faithfully praying! WHAT A GOD!!❤️🙌🏻”.

Pollack — who is a defensive line coach for the North Oconee High School Football team in Bogart, Georgia — returned the doctor’s call while on the sideline during the game on Friday, which was themed “Tackle Cancer,” as seen in a photo Lindsey shared on Instagram.

Lindsey explained that she had a brain biopsy on Sept. 23 at Duke because doctors “saw something” on her routine scan in June and then again in Sept.

“The oncologist and surgeon felt pretty confident that it was tumor cells regrowing and decided to do a biopsy to test the tissue,” she wrote. “Was it the same stage 2 glioma or something different? When they told me there was a chance of a full craniotomy again in the future depending on results, I’m not sure I heard anything else after that. I desperately did not want to have to go through that again. I could handle the biopsy and a change in treatment, but I started praying that when we went back for the biopsy and the scan the day before that it would just be gone.

“A miracle. Nothing there to biopsy. That did not happen at the time. I had the scan and the next day had the biopsy. Prayers were answered for a smooth and easy procedure! I was discharged that same evening and we drove home the next day.”

Lindsey shared that she was getting antsy and “fear was starting to creep in” while waiting for the results, which she was told it would take 4-6 weeks.

“My doctor said that they were getting the results, but they kept sending it back to be tested again because they hadn’t seen anything like this and had no explanation,” she wrote. “The tumor just isn’t there that they thought they had biopsied.”

Lindsey thanked David for sharing her surgery publicly last March “because he wanted prayer and the body of believers stormed the gates of Heaven on our behalf.”

After a historic career across three seasons at Georgia, Pollack was selected in the first-round by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2005 NFL Draft.

He suffered a career-ending neck injury in his second NFL season.

Pollack launched his podcast, “See Ball Get Ball” in 2024 after being laid off by ESPN in 2023.

He spent 12 years at the Worldwide Leader, serving as an analyst on the network’s “College GameDay” show.

Pollack and Lindsey, and their two children, Nicholas and Leah, launched The Pollack Family Foundation in 2016 with a focus on faith, family and community.
