Giants ‘honing in on’ Jameis Winston-J.J. McCarthy decision for Week 7
John Harbaugh is not ready to reveal who the Giants’ starting quarterback will be against the Texans.
The head coach said Monday “we’re working through that now, honing in on a decision,” regarding whether Jameis Winston would remain the starter or if J.J. McCarthy would get his first start since being acquired by the Giants from the Vikings three weeks ago.
Winston was benched in the fourth quarter of the Giants’ home loss to the Saints after his second interception led to New Orleans taking a 34-10 lead.

While McCarthy threw an interception on his first drive, he sparked the offense with big plays and mounted a comeback that put the Giants in position to tie the game at the end before they lost 34-27.
The 23-year-old finished 11-for-21 with 243 yards, one touchdown and one interception while rushing twice for 26 yards.
Winston took over as the team’s starter after Jaxon Dart went down with a season-ending knee injury in Week 2.
