Model Sahara Ray’s cause of death revealed: report

Model Sahara Ray reportedly died of a fentanyl overdose.

The Australian model overdosed on the synthetic opioid Friday and was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital where she was put on life support, the Daily Mail reported.

But her family ultimately made the devastating decision to take her off life support Sunday, an insider told the outlet.

An official cause of death has not been released, and it is unknown if the reported overdose was accidental or deliberate.

Ray’s mother, Gretchen Bach, told the Daily Mail in a statement that “Sahara was an incredibly passionate and kind young woman who loved her family, fashion, her daughter Snow, and surfing.”

The statement continued, “We’re feeling the love that is pouring in from her cherished friends, fans and the many communities that she was part of around the world.”

Ray — who was linked romantically to Justin Bieber in 2016 — was just 34 years old.

Her tragic death comes just months after she gave birth to her daughter, Snow Ray Dow, in January. Ray officially introduced her newborn in April alongside a sweet video of them cozied up together.

“Baby snow hallelujah,” she captioned the post, which was paired with Bieber’s 2025 hit “Everything Hallelujah.”

Ray’s final post was a series of photos of her daughter, shared in July.

“My whole heart 🤍 baby Snow,” she wrote.

Her last public appearance was when she attended the Ashton Michael RTW + 10-Year Anniversary Show: “Punk Tsugi” in Los Angeles in November 2023. Per photos, she was seated between then-boyfriend Mod Sun and SIIICKBRAIN at the fashion show.

Just a few months later in April 2024, Ray revealed her battle with the autoimmune disease Guillain-Barré syndrome, which left her partially paralyzed and briefly wheelchair-bound, after being hit by a car.

According to Mayo Clinic, Guillain-Barré syndrome “is a condition in which the body’s immune system attacks the nerves,” with symptoms that “cause weakness, numbness or paralysis.” It can be activated by acute trauma such as a car crash.

“Right now I’m paralyzed from the tops of my upper thighs all the way down to my feet. I can’t walk at all,” she said in a TikTok video shortly after the car crash, per 7news.com.
