David Krumholtz reveals why he skipped ‘10 Things I Hate About You’ reunion on ‘DWTS’
David Krumholtz revealed he wasn’t able to make the flight to Los Angeles to join his “10 Things I Hate About You” co-stars on stage during Tuesday’s episode of “Dancing With the Stars.”
The actor spoke out via an Instagram video after his co-star Julia Stiles invited the cast from the 1999 rom-com to help pay tribute to their late co-star Heath Ledger for “Dedication Night.”
“I could not be in LA for ‘Dancing With the Stars’ last night,” he shared. “I would have loved loved loved to have been there.”
“Everyone looked so amazing,” Krumholtz, 48, continued. “Julia’s tribute to my dear friend, who I miss every single day, was amazing and stunning, and I’m so proud of her.”
The “Oppenheimer” star, who was bundled up in a beanie and jacket, explained he was in upstate New York shooting a movie.
“I thought the cast looked amazing. They all look so young still,” he continued, referring to Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, Gabrielle Union, Andrew Keegan and Susan May Pratt.
Stiles, 45, honored Ledger with a contemporary dance to Frankie Valli’s 1967 hit “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” which the late actor sang to Stiles in the Gil Junger-directed movie.
“I learned a lot from Heath. He was so authentic,” the actress shared in a pre-recorded video with dance pro Ezra Sosa, 25, before their performance.
“I have so many great memories, but I’m also sad because I really wish that I could pick up the phone and be like, ‘Hey, dude. People really care about that movie. We did something special.’”
When the routine was finished, Stiles’ castmates joined her on the dance floor in front of a photo of Ledger.
Ultimately, the “Save the Last Dance” star and Sosa earned a 36/40 score from the judges.
Stiles portrays an anti-social high schooler, Kat, who falls in love with Ledger’s character, an outgoing Australian student named Patrick.
The “Brokeback Mountain” star tragically died from an accidental overdose in 2008. He was 28.
At the time, he had just finished working on the 2008 Christopher Nolan-directed film “The Dark Knight” and was actively filming the 2009 movie “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.”
Ledger is survived by his now-25-year-old daughter, Matilda Rose, whom he shares with actress Michelle Williams.
