Jane Fonda’s PAC spends millions to boost socialists ahead of midterms

These lefty politicians are sure Fonda her money.

Jane Fonda’s Climate PAC has funneled millions to socialist and far-left candidates ahead of November’s midterms, backing Democrats whose climate and political agendas are as radical as her own.

The actress’ PAC has hauled in $8 million — and injected more than $5 million into congressional, state and local races this year with almost no notice, the group’s latest federal campaign filing for the 2025-2026 election period reveals.

The PAC has spent $1.8 million on operations, handed out $3.4 million, and passed $228,000 to other committees, with another $5 million in the bank.

Once dubbed “Hanoi Jane” for posing atop an anti-aircraft gun during a trip to enemy North Vietnam during the height of the Vietnam War in 1972, Fonda, 88, has been an outspoken social activist for decades who has backed a string of lefty lawmakers.

She got arrested repeatedly in front of the US Capitol in 2019 while helping organize “Fire drill Fridays” to protest in support of the Green New Deal.

Her financial largesse has come in a series of $5,000 PAC contributions to candidates in competitive House races in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and other states — contests that could help determine control of Congress.

Fonda’s PAC also gave $5,000 to Dr. Annie Andrews, the Democratic Senate candidate seeking to unseat appointed Sen. Darline Graham (R-SC) in a closely watched and suddenly competitive race. She cut an ad with her Republican dad who vouched that she is “not some crazy socialist.”

The group has also backed Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, whose progressive positions have drawn scrutiny as she faces Republican NFL broadcaster Michele Tafoya.

Fonda’s PAC gave the maximum permitted $5,000 contribution to socialist Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong, whose once-rising campaign floundered as she struggled to explain her earlier call to “cancel Thanksgiving.”

“The Barbarella” star’s group even gave $5,000 to lower-level officeholders like a county commission candidate in Oregon, illustrating how its support reaches beyond high-profile federal races.

Her contributions totaling $40,000 in 2025 in Luzerne County, Pa., home to abandoned coal mines and Superfund sites, helped Democrats seize control of the county council there.

She also gave $5,000 to congressional candidate State Rep. Justin Pearson (D-Tenn.), who was expelled from the Tennessee state House after taking part in a gun control protest on the House floor, only to be later reinstated.

The latest Federal Election Commission filing by Michigan House congressional candidate and Sunrise Movement cofounder William Lawrence shows he also got a $5,000 Fonda PAC contribution. Lawrence’s climate activist group has pushed for sweeping action on climate change. Lawrence was charged with felony trespassing after he locked himself to an Embridge Energy pipeline in 2013 when he was 22.

Lawrence, who says he let his Democratic Socialists of America membership lapse this summer days before he won his primary, is battling GOP Rep. Tom Barrett (D-Mich.) after spending just $700,000 to win his primary. He has been on a fundraising frenzy since, hauling in $3.7 million this election cycle, with donations from other environmental groups as well.

In Oct. 14 Emerson College poll found Lawrence leading Barrett 53% to 45% among likely voters.

Fonda also gave the maximum permitted contribution to the campaign of Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), 80, a co-author of the Green New Deal alongside “squad” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). The proposal calls for a transition to 100% clean energy.

Fonda’s PAC says its goal is to “end the stranglehold the fossil fuel industry has on our lives and our planet by electing climate champions at the state and local level.”

Last year, Fonda told the LA Times she admired how Republicans “took over state legislatures” and county councils, adding: “Down ballot, if you come in, especially for primaries, you can really make a difference.” The Post has reached out to the PAC for comment.

Fonda is a canny fundraiser. As The Post reported this spring, billionaire hedge funder Tom Steyer donated $310,000 to her PAC before landing Fonda’s endorsement for his failed campaign for governor.
