LA actor linked to A-listers brutally beat love rival with shovel after holding ex at knifepoint: suit
An LA actor and comedian who has appeared in roles alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Ruffalo threatened to cut the jugular of a man living with his ex before hitting him with a shovel and attempting to run him over with his car, according to a new lawsuit.
Alleged victim Lucas Scheerer is describing the details of the horrific broad daylight attack in West Hollywood on August 4 by funny man Eliot Preschutti in the bombshell papers filed Friday in LA Superior Court.
Scheerer was living at the home of Preschutti’s former romantic partner, Michelle Farrell, when the comedian came to the residence and attacked him around noon, per the suit.
The actor threw Sheerer to the ground and threatened to cut his jugular and kill him, the documents state. Preschutti then grabbed a garden shovel and hit Scheerer on the neck with it, cutting him and then attempted to run him over with his car.
Scheerer was rushed to a trauma unit at Cedars-Sinai Hospital where he received emergency treatment.
The victim “suffered serious bodily injuries including to his head and neck and great physical, mental, and emotional pain and suffering,” the suit reads.
Preschutti was arrested, the status of the case is unclear. Preschutti was arrested and booked into the West Hollywood Station jail on an attempted murder charge, jail records listed his bail at $2 million, WeHoTimes reported.
The Post’s attempts to reach Preschutti for comment were not returned. The Post requested an update on charges from the LA District Attorney’s office but is yet to hear back.
Preschutti and Farrell have been in a years-long battle over the West Hollywood property where the incident took place, The Post has learned.
Preschutti is accused of holding a knife to Ferrell’s throat in the bathroom according to a civil suit involving ownership of the residence. Both claim to be full owners.
“On August 23, 2022, Preschutti forced Farrell to sign the Deed Contract against her will at knife point to her throat, saying ‘if you don’t sign this, I’m going to kill you and your children’,” the lawsuit claims.
The legal documents go on to say: “He drove her against her will to Wells Fargo where she was forced to sign with the notary.”
“She signed under threats, duress, and criminal activity of Preschutti to induce her to sign for fear of her own safety and the safety of her children,” the suit adds.
The papers also point to other violent episodes. “In or about January 2024, Preschutti hit a female security guard in the face at the Comedy Store, and the male security took him down,” they read.
Preschutti has also been banned from entering some of the Sunset Strip’s most well-known clubs including the Rainbow Room, Comedy Store, and Barney’s Beanery “because of his drunken violent nature,” the papers say.
The actor has uncredited scenes in the movie South Paw with Jake Gyllenhaal and Foxcatcher with Mark Ruffalo. The Post contacted Preschutti for comment.
Scheerer’s lawsuit also names Farrell, claiming premises liability. Farrell was also contacted for comment.
Scheerer is seeking economic damages for medical, hospital, and incidental expenses to be determined by a jury.
