Florida cops reveal exactly what happened before mom was arrested for leaving 4 kids for Las Vegas trip

The four kids allegedly left by their photographer mom during her Las Vegas trip were left unsupervised for about 16 hours per day – while their babysitter lived two hours, Florida cops revealed Wednesday.

Irene Miller, 50, is facing four counts of child endangerment – and a combined maximum sentence of 20 years behind bars – after Osceola County authorities say she left her children, 9, 11, 12 and 14 alone at their Kissimmee condo while traveling to Sin City on a five-day work trip starting Oct. 18.

Outside of school hours, the children’s only adult contact came from a babysitter hired by Miller who arrived at 8 a.m. to drop them off at school and left at 4 p.m. after they were home, Capt. Kim Montes from the Osceola Sheriff’s Office told The Post.

The caretaker also was not nearby in case of an emergency, she lives two hours away near Tampa, according to authorities.

Cops found that while the condo was well maintained and not messy, there was relatively little food in the fridge for the kids, Montes said.

The alleged neglect was eventually uncovered after the 11-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy called 911 in a panic over their youngest sibling getting struck in the head by a dumbbell that came crashing down while he was building a fort at around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 21.

“He was building a fort with sheets and blankets and he used the dumbbell to secure a sheet on a piece of furniture, but when he pulled the sheet, it fell and hit him on his forehead,” said Montes, adding that the laceration was later glued back together at the hospital.

The eldest sibling, who was outside riding his bike during the accident, only learned what had happened when first responders showed up at the house and began asking questions.

“When we got there, the 14-year-old shows back up because he sees all the fire trucks, and we ask where the mom is. They said she’s out of town,” Montes recalled.

Deputies soon reached Miller on her cell phone, however, she was “very dismissive to the deputy, saying that she’s working right now.

“Then, [she] says she is going to have to go and hangs up on the deputy,” Montes said.

The captain was even more shocked at what happened next.

“So she knew what she did was wrong,” Capt. Kim Montes from the Osceola Sheriff’s Office said of Miller. facebook/Irene Miller

Miller “proceeds to call the 14-year-old on his cell phone, and I don’t want to use the word yell…but basically tells the 14-year-old, ‘Why are you calling 911? You’re going to get me in trouble,’” she said.

“She’s berating the son for calling 911…while he was standing right there with the deputy. It was on speaker.”

“So she knew what she did was wrong,” Montes said, then noted a concerning observation made by cops.

“The house was clean, the kids were clean. The deputy did notice that there wasn’t a lot of food there…There just didn’t seem to be a lot of food there for four children.”

Still, Miller didn’t turn around and fly home – even as her son was hospitalized, cops said.

Later that night, all four of the kids were placed in the care of her husband, who was arrested in August for alleged spousal abuse.

Mark Miller, 53, was hit with a criminal battery charge and restraining order after his wife of 15 years accused him of slapping her phone out of her hand during a heated confrontation outside of their kids’ school, according to court documents reviewed by The Post.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Irene Miller, who was born in Russia, then filed a petition for a dissolution of marriage against Mark Miller, who was born in Ukraine, just last month, the docs show.

“The kids were ecstatic to see [their father]…like hugging him, happy to go with him, very ecstatic to see him,” Montes said, adding that the court-ordered no contact order between the parents did not mean the kids could not stay with their dad.

Mark Miller and the children have reportedly been staying at a motel since then.

She was arrested and booked into Orange County Jail, but posted her $4,000 surety bond on Saturday.

Her next court date wasn’t immediately clear.
