Delta pilot gives LaGuardia travelers two options after dog pees on flight – get it cleaned up or depart on time

An airline pilot reportedly called for passengers to vote whether to delay a plane’s departure from LaGuardia Airport so it could be cleaned after a dog peed in the aircraft.

“A pilot just came out and announced that a dog had relieved himself on the plane during the last flight and he could either order a cleaning or depart on time with the cabin smelling like dog urine,” television host Jennifer Coffey shared on social media Monday.

“So he asked for a show of hands how many passengers just wanted to deal with the smell to get home on time,” Coffey wrote, adding, “Democracy!”

The up or down vote reportedly unfolded at LaGuardia Airport, according to View From The Wing.

In the video shared by Coffey — who clarified she was not on the flight — travelers at a Delta Air Lines gate can be seen raising their hands to cast their vote.

While the outcome of the suspected vote remains unclear, the video amassed more than 10 million vies — and parked an intense online debate.

“You know there’s at least one mom who’s like ‘just give me a dang glove and a can of Clorox wipes and we’ll be on our way!,’” one user wrote on Instagram.

“Would rather sit in a plane full of dogs than a plane full of people,” quipped another.

One commenter claimed that dog urine “doesn’t smell as bad as a baby’s diaper which some parents change on the seat rather the the toilet mid flight.”

While another, who described themselves as a “nurse and full time traveler” said, “Give me a plane full of dogs ANYDAY because people smell worse and are so much more GROSS.”

“Dogs sometimes can’t wait even with best of plans. I’ve encountered human urine, feces, vomit, boogers, and blood on planes. Give me the dog that has the decency to keep it in the floor!,” they added.

However, others were adamant that dogs shouldn’t be allowed to fly despite some airlines allowing them onboard.

“As a proud pet parent … leave your pets at home!!!! Legitimate service animals ONLY!!!! AND QUIT LYING THAT YOUR PET IS A SERVICE ANIMAL!!!!,” one person wrote.

“Love my dog, but they belong in the bottom of the plane,” said another.
