Gov. Mikie Sherrill lists $3.5M NJ home after moving into the governor’s mansion

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill is saying goodbye to her longtime family home — and hoping to nearly double her money on the sale.

The Democrat has listed her historic Montclair mansion for $3.49 million after moving her family into the official governor’s residence in Princeton earlier this year.

The listing comes after Sherrill, who took office in January, moved her family into Drumthwacket, the historic governor’s mansion in Princeton. Sherrill became the first New Jersey governor in more than two decades to live full-time at the official residence.

Former Gov. Jim McGreevey was the last to do so, before leaving office in 2004.

“We have loved our time in Montclair, and Essex County will always feel like home for us,” Sherrill and her husband, First Gentleman Jason Hedberg, told The Post in a joint statement provided by the governor’s office.

“This is where we raised our kids and built an amazing community that supported us through many milestones. Now, we’re so excited to be living in the People’s House at Drumthwacket and embracing Princeton as our new home.”

The couple purchased the six-bedroom Victorian for $1.67 million in 2010, according to property records, meaning the current asking price is roughly $1.8 million more than they paid 16 years ago.

The Montclair estate is part of a broader real estate portfolio that has included properties in Vermont and Washington, DC.

The couple raised their four children at the property in the affluent New Jersey suburb.

Built in 1865, the Empire Victorian sits on approximately 1.1 acres of landscaped grounds and features six bedrooms, four full bathrooms and one half-bathroom.

The property offers a covered front porch, a bluestone patio, lush gardens, weeping cherry trees and an outdoor hot tub. There’s also a lighted multi-sport court and an attached three-car garage.

Inside, the historic residence boasts soaring ceilings, intricate moldings, refinished hardwood floors, oversized windows and four fireplaces.

An open kitchen connects to a spacious great room topped by a dramatic cupola, while formal living and dining rooms preserve the home’s 19th-century charm.
