Parents busted after cops find 4-year-old son in pond and discover filthy house full of animal poop
Two Florida parents were arrested after their child was discovered wading alone in a pond — leading cops to discover an alleged house of horrors full of animal feces and roaches.
Deputies rushed to a retention pond on Deltona after receiving a call about an unaccompanied toddler on Saturday morning, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
There, officers located the 4-year-old boy splashing around the pond in a marshy area, before they picked him up and put him into a patrol car, bodycam footage showed.
“Hey, come here … It’s OK,” a deputy could be heard telling the youngster as he plucks him out of the body of water.
After the child identified his home, cops uncovered “filthy conditions,” including “copious animal waste, a roach infestation, and mold,” the department said in a statement.
Inside, authorities also disturbingly found a caged and neglected dog, which was turned over to Deltona Animal Control.
Parents Fermin Medrano-Perez, 26, and Jeneixa Rodriguez-Crespo, 24, were cuffed and charged with child neglect and animal cruelty.
A grandparent took custody of the boy, and the Florida Department of Children and Families was contacted for a follow-up.
