Ashley Darby and ‘RHOP’ alum Candiace Dillard Bassett got into ‘heated’ fight during scrapped ‘RHUGT’ scene
Another scene bites the dust.
“Real Housewives of Potomac” star Ashley Darby said her “heated” fight with former co-star Candiace Dillard Bassett was “cut” from “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th.”
“She and I really got to scrapping,” Darby, 38, told Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” in a new interview. “It got really heated when we filmed ‘Girls Trip’ in Atlanta.”
Darby — who told us she was “jumping around” and “clapping” amid the tense exchange — said the disagreement stemmed from her unresolved issues with Dillard Bassett, who left “RHOP” after Season 8.
“It was just like old times, basically,” Darby mused.
This is not the first tiff removed from the final cut of the milestone “RHUGT” season.
In October, Dolores Catania revealed that “Real Housewives of New York City” star Erin Lichy and “Golden Life” star Dorinda Medley got into an “amazing fight” while filming the season finale at the latter’s Bluestone Manor.
The “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star claimed Lichy drunkenly interrupted Medley’s speech, though Lichy later stated that they “hugged” it out five minutes later.
According to Darby, her argument with Dillard Bassett ended similarly.
Darby told us that Dillard Bassett showed her photos of her two-year-old son, Jett, and they “just started talking like normal.”
“We have these moments like sisters … but then there’s like a little fiber of like, ‘But girl, how [are] you really doing?’” Darby said, admitting that she does miss Dillard Bassett “sometimes.”
The “Drive Back” singer announced her departure from “RHOP” after six seasons in March 2024.
“As I embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac,’ I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth, and moments of introspection that have defined this journey,” she told People at the time.
“With … new responsibilities on my plate, I have decided to take a break from ‘RHOP.’”
“Real Housewives” executive producer Andy Cohen seemed to confirm that Dillard Bassett was fired from the show when he refused to name her as a cast member who left of her own accord at Bravo Fan Fest in Charleston last month.
Up until that point, Darby said she and her castmates were asked “a lot” about the circumstances surrounding Dillard Bassett’s exit from the show.
“It’s not something we want to answer, so, you know, it’s nice that somebody else talked about it for a change,” she told VRT. “And he said what he said.”
“The Real Housewives of Potomac” airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo, with new episodes available to stream the next day on Peacock.
