Prince Harry scolds audience for filming him during surprise London speech ahead of trip with Meghan Markle
Prince Harry chided audience members for filming him during a surprise speech in London on Wednesday on the heels of his whirlwind New York trip.
While delivering the keynote at the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards, the Duke of Sussex halted his opening remarks to gesture at the crowd and declare, “All I can see is phones.”
As attendees laughed, Harry put one hand on his hip, as seen in a video circulating on social media.
However, the 42-year-old was smiling as he continued to tell off the audience with an apparent reference the man who took the stage before him, saying, “You guys, literally he just talked about it.”
The former military pilot, who suited up for the Old Royal Naval College outing, then jumped back into his speech about his nonprofit Travalyst initiative, which focuses on sustainable travel.
“I believe that an industry built on extraordinary places of our world has both a responsibility and a business imperative to protect it,” Harry shared.
He, similarly, made headlines in 2024 when he jokingly reprimanded an excited fan trying to take a selfie with him with two phones.
Harry, who was exiting the Invictus Games Foundation’s 10th-anniversary service at St. Paul’s Cathedral at the time, said it didn’t “even make sense” to be thrusting two cell phones in his face.
“You’ve got two cameras? How did you end up with two cameras?” he asked, even nudging her arms back behind the barrier.
Harry’s latest scolding comes just ahead of his and wife Meghan Markle’s first joint overseas trip since relocating to England with their two kids — Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5 — in August.
The couple will be at the Lost Screen Memorial opening in Brussels, Belgium, on Tuesday, where they will deliver a keynote speech.
Additionally, Harry is taking part in “Beyond Promises: Buidling a Digital Future That Works for Children” panel.
Meanwhile, he journeyed to the Big Apple solo earlier this week for a “number of meetings.”
The retired royal was spotted at the luxury Lotte New York Palace hotel Monday night, per People, with his rep claiming “further details” on his “new business opportunities and partnerships” will come to light “in due course.”
Multiple sources tell Page Six, however, that the couple’s Hollywood dreams may be in jeopardy as their “in development” Netflix films make no apparent progress and their longtime head of nonfiction at Archewell Productions exits their company.
While an insider insisted to us that “this is all part of the process,” royal expert Kinsley Schofield predicts Markle’s career is “unraveling” — as another says her upcoming “Junior MasterChef Australia” appearance only highlights its “weakened” state.
On top of the blows to their business, Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, has been arrested and charged with possession of child porn.
The “Suits” alum, who is currently navigating her family’s move into a new home on a friend’s estate, previously said she was “deeply distressed” by the investigation into her dad’s alleged crimes.
