49ers’ injury concerns hit fever pitch as entire position group ruled out for Raiders clash

The 49ers won’t have any of their primary receivers coming off the bye week.

Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel and Christian Kirk have all been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Raiders. San Francisco’s receivers for Week 9 will include Demarcus Robinson, Jordan Watkins, Brandin Cooks, Jacob Cowing and KhaDarel Hodge.

Kirk has yet to make his debut for the 49ers this season after battling numerous injuries. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said the wide receiver hurt his meniscus, and the team is evaluating whether the injury will require surgery.

The 49ers signed Kirk to a one-year, $6 million contract in the offseason, which hasn’t panned out for San Francisco. Kirk’s ongoing absence could push the 49ers to make one more move ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.

Beyond Kirk, the 49ers will face Las Vegas without their No. 1 and 2 receivers.

Mike Evans injury update doesn’t bode well for 49ers

Evans is dealing with Achilles tendinitis after hobbling off the field during an Oct. 19 matchup against the Commanders. Samuel suffered a severe hamstring injury the previous week on Oct. 11.

General manager John Lynch said the 49ers “hope to get Deebo and Mike back in the fold” in the coming weeks. But his specific comments on Evans were particularly concerning, given the nature of the 33-year-old’s injury.

“What we’re really trying to do there — he’s got that tendinitis that flared up — and I think you learn from the history. Christian [McCaffrey] had this situation and — every player’s different, every situation’s different — but you don’t want it to become something that really lingers,” Lynch said of Evans’ progress.
