Police have made three more arrests after a shooting in Swindon on Friday that left a man with a gunshot wound

Police have made three more arrests after a shooting that left a man with a gunshot wound.

Officers were called shortly before 9pm on Friday to reports of a gunshot being fired in St Paul’s Street, in the Gorse Hill area of Swindon, Wiltshire.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with a suspected gunshot wound. His condition is described as stable but remains critical.

A 20-year-old man was arrested overnight on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 19-year-old man and a 30-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. They remain in custody for questioning.

Five others who had previously been arrested have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

They include:

  • A 51-year-old arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
  • A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and being concerned in the supply of Class C drugs
  • A 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender
  • A 33-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation
  • A 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation

A cordon is currently in place in Farnborough Road while officers carry out their investigation.
