The crime drama has been compared to Peaky Blinders by fans, as rumours swirl that filming for a third series could begin as soon as July
Following its initial premiere in 2021, concerns mounted this captivating Irish crime drama might vanish from television altogether – but it has returned, leaving audiences absolutely thrilled.
Those seeking to immerse themselves in a fresh crime drama can rest assured they’ll be captivated by this BBC series, which ranked among Ireland’s most-viewed programmes.
Kin is an Irish drama co-created by Peter McKenna and Ciaran Donnelly, shot and situated in Dublin. The programme centres on a fictional family embroiled in a brutal gangland war.
Initially broadcast on RTÉ One, the series was acquired by both Netflix and the BBC after experiencing a spike in viewership, enabling a second series to be commissioned.
Leading this hard-hitting narrative are Aidan Gillen and Ciarán Hinds, portraying rival crime lords Frank Kinsella and Eamon Cunningham respectively, reports the Irish Mirror.
The cast also features Charlie Cox as Michael Kinsella, Clare Dunne as Amanda Kinsella and Emmett J. Scanlan as Jimmy Kinsella.

However, after years of silence, fans were left wondering whether Kin had concluded following the second series broadcasting in 2023.
Reports now indicate filming with the complete cast is scheduled to commence this July as they head back to Dublin. Despite the speculation, no official announcement concerning a third series has been made.
A spokesperson for Irish broadcaster RTE previously informed the Irish Mirror: “Kin has been an extremely popular series for RTE and if and when there’s something to announce, we will be delighted to do so.”
Enthusiasts will undoubtedly be delighted to witness its return to screens, and in the interim, both existing series of Kin seem thoroughly worth viewing, considering that audiences have granted it a flawless 100% overall rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
