After making history in the Round of 32, Canada is hoping to keep its World Cup alive in another do-or-die game against Morocco to open the Round of 16.

Les Rouges had never progressed beyond the group stage in a World Cup prior to this year, but by finishing second in the group stage, they advanced to the Round of 32 for the first time.

Their first knockout match ever against South Africa was a tense matchup that went into stoppage time at 0-0, but a clutch goal from Stephen Eustaquio punched Canada’s first ticket to the Round of 16.

With a spot in the quarterfinals on the line, Canada will face another second-place team, Morocco. After drawing 1-1 against the Netherlands in the Round of 32 after a 30-minute extra time period, the Atlas Lions advanced on penalty kicks, edging out the Dutch 3-2 on penalties. Ismael Saibari was responsible for the decisive goal.

The winner will move on to face the winner of Paraguay vs. France in the quarterfinals on Thursday, July 9.
