Where is Kelly Ripa? Kevin Jonas Fills In For The ‘Live’ Co-Host Alongside Mark Consuelos

Mark Consuelos was joined by a new (but certainly familiar) face on Monday’s Live with Kelly and Mark.
Kevin Jonas filled in for Kelly Ripa this morning, as he and Consuelos fittingly walked out to the Jonas Brothers’ 2007 hit, “S.O.S.” After introducing the Jonas Brother to the audience, Consuelos thanked him for his help “flying the plane” this morning. Consuelos shared that “Kelly sends her love,” before revealing that her absence was due to undergoing “gum graft surgery.”
“Her dentist said five years ago, ‘You can do it in about five years.’ And she joking[ly said], ‘I didn’t think I’d still be on the air in five years,’” Consuelos said.
While Consuelos assured fans that his wife and co-host is “doing well” and “doing great,” he said that she is not allowed to talk.”
Jonas quipped, “Wow. That’s gotta be the hardest thing she’s ever done.”
Consuelos briefed Jonas and the Live audience on the rules she has to follow while recovering from the procedure, including that she must eat soft food, she cannot suck out of a straw, and she cannot pull her lip down to examine it.

Though Consuelos noted that the surgery was “painful,” he said that Ripa “famously doesn’t feel pain.” However, he knows this procedure “hurts.” Jonas, who said he is “wishing [Ripa] well,” explained that his wife, Danielle Jonas, can relate.
“An incredible pain tolerance,” Jonas said of his wife. “I don’t know what it is. I will be like, ‘Are you in pain?’ She’s like, ‘I’m fine.’ I come to find out… her foot is, like, falling off.”
“Well, they do have kids. They do deliver kids,” Consuelos added. “We’re not built for that.”
