Jared Padalecki apologizes for post supporting Perez Hilton after backlash

Jared Padalecki issued an apology after sharing a post supporting Perez Hilton.

One week after the gossip blogger’s hospitalization, the “Supernatural” alum tweeted, “Hey @PerezHilton. Just wanted to reach out and let you know that you’re in my thoughts.

“This ‘being human’ is a strange thing. Exhilarating. Exhausting. Fast. Slow. Wonderful… and… at times… awful,” the 44-year-old continued on Sunday.

He concluded, “I hope you are trying as best as you can to be kind to yourself right now. Please surround yourself with the love and support that all humans deserve.”

Padalecki deleted the post amid backlash from social media users, insisting he “didn’t know” about the entertainment columnist’s career.

“It’s been brought to my attention,” he wrote. “I’m sorry.”

The “Gilmore Girls” alum subsequently shared a more detailed explanation, writing, “I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA about his past. I had heard of him. Obviously. I had heard that he hadn’t exactly ‘been kind’ to me in the past.”

Padalecki noted that his “thought is always to give grace and forgiveness to those who may have tried to ‘harm’ you.”

He added, “In my experience, it usually works out better than holding a grudge or wishing punishment on someone else.”

However, the actor wrote, “On my life, I have never in my life, not once, looked him up or gone to one of his sites. I simply thought he was a ‘tabloid’ type of sensationalist journalist. I DO NOT stand for, or support, ANY of the actions I just now found out that he has committed. Full stop.”

He apologized for his “words caus[ing] any harm” and concluded, “I hope you ALL are well out there, and taking care of yourselves.”

Hilton, notably, said in a recent “Hang Out With Sean Hannity” episode that he has privately “made amends” with celebs he hurt with his blog, including Britney Spears, Neil Patrick Harris and Khloé Kardashian.

On Aug. 4, police responded to calls reporting a “suicide attempt” at Hilton’s Miami home — and, after hours, he was transferred to a local hospital.

The 48-year-old, born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., is in “serious but stable” condition, his family wrote in a statement over the weekend.

“He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days,” Hilton’s loved ones wrote Saturday. “His treatment and recovery will be a long process.”

They noted his communication has been “extremely limited” — and that his three kids “remain safe and are being cared for by immediate family.”
