Three Texas Tech softball players were injured in a jet ski accident during a team event on Thursday near Lubbock.

Texas Tech confirmed the accident in statements to D1Softball and Sports Illustrated.

“Texas Tech Athletics can confirm members of its softball program were involved in an accident Thursday afternoon at Lake Ransom Canyon outside of Lubbock as part of a team event,” the statement read.

“There were thankfully no critical injuries as a result of the accident. All injured student-athletes have been treated and are expected to make a full recovery.”

Red Raiders coach Gerry Glasco provided a positive update Friday night while sharing a report about the accident on social media.

“Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers! Glad everyone is okay and recovering well!” Glasco wrote on X.

The accident involved two jet skis and injured three people, with the initial 911 call coming around 3:38 p.m. local time, according to KAMC.

Three adult women suffered injuries to their extremities, including their legs and a hand. 

One was transported to University Medical Center via ambulance. The other two were taken for treatment in personal vehicles.

The Ransom Canyon Police Department, Ransom Canyon Fire Department and Texas Parks and Wildlife are investigating the crash.

Texas Tech has not publicly identified the three injured players.

The Red Raiders are one of the top college softball programs in the country, having reached the Women’s College World Series championship series in each of the past two seasons.

They’ve gone 115-24 during that stretch, finishing as the national runner-up to Texas in both 2025 and 2026.
