How Russell Wilson reacted to Giants’ Jaxson Dart injury crusher
Russell Wilson said “no, no, no, no, no” upon hearing that Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart’s knee injury — which he sustained in Monday’s loss to the Rams — could be worse than expected.
During Tuesday’s installment of “Set, Hut!” on CBS Sports, the veteran quarterback, who spent the 2025 season with Big Blue, reacted to an ESPN report that Dart might need season-ending surgery on what was originally thought to be a sprained MCL.
“Live watching it, I said, ‘Oh no, he may be out for the year’ in that moment,” Wilson said. “And I’m praying that that is not the case because I know how much he cares, how much he loves the game, how much he means to that team.
“With Jaxson being out, if this is the case, which is devastating news.”
Co-host Kyle Long added, “There is no third quarterback on that roster. [Wide receiver and return specialist] Braxton Berrios was the last listed emergency quarterback.
“So I would keep your phone on ringer just in case.”
Giants head coach John Harbaugh addressed the media on Tuesday after the report that Dart’s injury could end his season.
“I’m not sure exactly what news or how anything has been stated, but right now, evaluations are ongoing,” Harbaugh said. “We haven’t got any final decisions yet. We’ve learned a lot more.
“I wouldn’t really want to share too much until decisions get made, and that takes more than one person. It takes everybody involved, so when we know what direction we’re gonna have to go, or whatever it might be, we’ll announce that. But we don’t have that, so I don’t want to get out of our skis on that.”
Wilson spent the 2025 season with the Giants and made three starts before he was replaced by Dart.
The Super Bowl champ fell down the depth chart and became the third option, with Jameis Winston backing up Dart after he suffered multiple injuries.
Dart was clutching his knee in pain after taking a hit from Rams defender Byron Young in the first quarter of the Giants’ 28-6 loss at SoFi Stadium.
He limped off the field and underwent tests before returning to the sideline in street clothes. He was ruled out for the rest of the game and did not speak to reporters after the loss.
Winston relieved him and completed only 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards with an interception.
Wilson, a free agent, paused his football career to join CBS Sports for its Sunday pregame show, among other on-air duties — despite having an offer to be a team’s backup in 2026, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
His football show “Set, Hut!” with Long debuted on Sept. 15.
Wilson told The Post in May that he received an offer from the Jets, while he was mulling over an opportunity to become an NFL analyst.
He would’ve been on the depth chart backing his friend and former teammate, Geno Smith, who played behind him for three seasons in Seattle.
