Luka Doncic’s parting words to LeBron James speak volumes

Luka Dončić has now had several months to digest LeBron James’ exit from the Lakers.

The superstars had a solid relationship as teammates, and the mutual respect they have continued even after James took his talents to Philadelphia.

Dončić was interviewed by Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix and was asked whether James reached out to him when he left the Lakers.

“Yeah,” Dončić said. He then added, “And I reached out to him. You know, ‘Thank you for everything.’ Obviously, it was amazing being his teammate. Learned so many things [from him].”

He then said that becoming the Lakers franchise’s new face after James’ exit isn’t pressure, but that it’s an honor.

There’s clearly no bad blood between James and Dončić, as well as between James and the Lakers’ franchise.

This should be seen as a good thing because it means Los Angeles can move forward with its future without dwelling on James’ exit. Fans can do the same thing, instead turning their attention toward who Los Angeles has on its roster now rather than who it had.

That being said, James’ first time playing the Lakers on Christmas Day will be must-see TV.
