Ex-Prince Andrew awarded staggering sum after Royal Lodge eviction
King Charles has shelled out a large sum to his brother, the disgraced former Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
According to Hello magazine, Charles paid from his private income to ensure the Crown Estate would be reimbursed.
The Crown Estate is an independent business that belongs to the monarch but is neither his private property nor government-owned, and he receives no profits.
The monarch, 77, privately paid his sibling for the repair and restoration costs of Mountbatten-Windsor’s former home, Royal Lodge.
On Friday, it was announced that the demoted royal’s lease on Royal Lodge had officially been surrendered, with the Crown Estate receiving £1.5 million, while Andrew walked away with £302,000.
Mountbatten-Windsor and his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, both 66, were entitled to compensation because they made repairs and vacated before their lease expired.
He was entitled to compensation because, as per the terms of his lease, he surrendered it within the first 25 years.
The Crown Estate spokesperson said: “The lease for Royal Lodge has ended and our focus now is firmly on its future use and the opportunities to generate additional financial value for the nation from its early return.”
The former prince has since moved to Marsh Farm, a five-bedroom home on King Charles’s Sandringham Estate.
Mountbatten-Windsor resigned from his royal duties in 2019 due to his ties with the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Three years later, he was stripped of his military affiliations and royal patronages.
In 2021, Virginia Giuffre accused him of sexual abuse, a claim he denied. They reached a multimillion-dollar settlement before her death in 2025. Later that year, he lost his princely title.
The Epstein and President Trump pal was arrested earlier this year on his 66th birthday for allegedly sending confidential trade documents to the pedophile businessman.
Also this year, the DOJ released in excess of three million records — including a photo of Andrew holding himself up over an unnamed woman, who is seen lying underneath him, and crude email comments by Ferguson regarding her daughter Eugenie, who was 19 at the time.
Earlier this month, Mountbatten-Windsor filed for a judicial review, questioning the legality of his arrest and home search warrants.
