S.W.A.T. Exiles is bringing the action and the heat, and two members of Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson’s (Shemar Moore) 44 Squad might just have the hots for each other.

At the start of S.W.A.T. Exiles Episode 3, “Burn Zone,” Ethan (Freddy Miyares) catches Jude (Ronen Rubenstein) sleeping at S.W.A.T. HQ. He offers to let him crash at his place, explaining that he could benefit from the company and touting the “sick view” from his rooftop. Jude takes him up on it, and in the final moments of Episode 3, has a visitor: Sammy (Lucy Barrett).

Sammy stops by Ethan’s place to hang out with Jude, who reveals that he’s staying with Ethan because after his previous undercover work, he was set up in corporate housing that was “already furnished and gray, and didn’t feel like [him].”

Sammy concedes she has not been feeling like herself amid the “intense” work for S.W.A.T., and she begins to open up about her struggles, which she admitted earlier that her boyfriend, a brand manager, couldn’t relate to. Jude’s willingness to listen to Sammy is an immediate turn-on, and Sammy makes the first move with a kiss. After Sammy pulls away and apologizes, Jude swoops in for another kiss. They both agree it’s a “terrible” idea, yet continue hooking up anyway.

DECIDER asked Moore what Hondo’s reaction might be if he discovers that two of his recruits have hooked up.

“Hondo doesn’t care. As long as they show up to work and get the job done. They’re young. A little hanky-panky, you know what I mean? Hondo was young once upon a time. Where do you think his baby girl came from?” he quipped.

However, Moore clarified that “Hondo will care in the sense of if it affects the chemistry of the team [or] it affects the work.”

“You can’t let lovey-dovey emotions; you can’t let any of that get in the way. Your instincts gotta be right on time because you don’t get second chances,” he added, referring to their characters’ line of work. “But I think they do a good job of keeping it a secret. But not that Hondo doesn’t know, because Hondo seems to have an ear to everything.”

According to Moore, sparks potentially flying between Sammy and Jude is “fun for the fanbase,” as well.

“So they’re having a good time, and hopefully the audience is having a good time watching them have a good time,” he shared with a laugh.

As for whether we’ll see Hondo with a love interest, Moore hinted at what could be in store, citing a potential need for some romance in Hondo’s life amid the personal struggles he’s been through in the two years between S.W.A.T. and S.W.A.T. Exiles.

“There’s a rumor out there that Hondo can’t be dark and frustrated and moody over his mama and getting kicked off the force. So Hondo is going to have to find love. So I’m going to have to stay in the gym so they can peel my shirt off and, I don’t know, play a little kissy face with somebody,” he teased. “That’s the rumor. So, I mean, hey! Maybe that means I still got it!”

He added, “They’re trying to throw me a bone, so I’m not going to fight it too hard.”

Moore also explained that with S.W.A.T. Exiles Season 1 having a home on Starz as opposed to broadcast, “the handcuffs are off” in terms of not having to “race to commercial anymore,” and they “get to let the shows breathe.”

“They get to be a little darker, a little edgier. The language gets to be a little more colorful. That’s fun as an actor, but when you can really embellish in the action, when you can embellish in the passion and emotion of it so it’s not just a fun video game of good guys chasing bad guys, there’s a lot of heart,” he elaborated. “There’s a lot of dignity in it, and so you get invested in what’s happening. You can feel it, and our job is to make it feel real. But yeah, there’s a lot of treats, there’s a lot of surprises that will come along the way: familiar faces, romances, shirts off and sexy time. Trust me, it’s a fun ride.”
