When will Mamdani care about victims of crimes the same way he does about illegal migrants?
An alleged gangbanger in this country illegally was shot and wounded by ICE agents in The Bronx on Thursday.
And by the way New York politicians immediately reacted — with press conferences and outraged tweets the length of “War and Peace” — one would think ICE had made swiss cheese of a sweet grandma as she handed out Werther’s Originals to the neighborhood children.
All the usual suspects reflexively grabbed a microphone and called to “abolish ICE” in the name of Oscar Belgal, who reportedly used his car to smash through a vehicle barricade before accelerating toward ICE agents.
Belgal’s 5-year-old son was in the car and was unharmed, no thanks to his pathetic excuse of a father.
Still, an outraged Mayor Mamdani stood alongside AG Tish James and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams declaring war on ICE.
“All they do is terrorize the city,” he said of the federal law enforcement agency.
Wait til our mayor hears about what the illegal gangbangers do.
Misplaced anger
Soon-to-be Congresswoman Darializa Avila Chevalier joined protesters at the scene.
She used the shooting to call for NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch to step down because she had the gall to read “our neighbor’s past interactions with the police” — that is, his long criminal record — instead of condemning the shooting.
Yes, she literally called him “our neighbor.” Mr. Rogers would have been the first person to call the cops on this miscreant.
Where is this energy and outrage when innocent citizens are injured or killed by illegal immigrants, criminals with long rap sheets and the criminally insane?
They simply don’t care.
Mamdani’s sympathies are reserved solely for Rikers inmates and illegal aliens.
Because if they poured as much into the innocent as they do illegals, they’d be forced to admit that their own sanctuary and soft-on-crime policies are responsible for most of this death and disorder.
Just ask Tish James, who wrote of Belgal on X that she was, “keeping the victim and their family in my prayers tonight.”
They simply don’t care.
Every day they proudly flaunt their twisted moral framework.
Law breakers get all their love, attention and activism, while regular New Yorkers get the ol’ hand flicked under the chin.
Progress?
On Thursday night, Republican Attorney General candidate Saritha Komatireddy mopped the floor with James in their debate.
James accused Komatireddy of wanting to go into the subways and “remove people struggling with mental illness,” adding that it was turning “back the clock of progress.”
James and company’s idea of “progress” is having mentally ill lunatics — many of whom have criminal records — roam the subway.
Every morning, I bear witness to James’ “progress” as I step over two to three passed-out druggies on my subway platform.
If one of them awoke from their slumber and assaulted a commuter, I wouldn’t bet on any of our pols giving the incident a second of their attention.
After all, these are their “neighbors.”
