TV show host kicks drone into model’s face — blames mishap on his shoes
A comedy show host inexplicably punted a production drone on live TV — sending the device straight into a model’s face before blaming the mishap on his shoes.
Ernesto Chavana of Mexico’s “Es Show” kicked the drone during Monday’s broadcast and it struck Isabella “La Colombiana” Rojas, leaving the stage model with a bloodied mouth, according to the Sun.
As gasping audience members looked on, Chavana was heard telling staff, “see what you have done,” in a bizarre attempt to dodge blame before offering an on-air apology and claiming his shoes may be at fault.
“I’m very sorry. I am responsible for what just happened,” said Chavana.
“I feel very ashamed and embarrassed for what I have just done,” he continued.
“I kicked this thing they put in front of me… I don’t know, maybe it was my new shoes.”
“Es Show” crewmembers tended to Rojas backstage, the Sun reported.
The production team for Canal 6 — which carries “Es Show” — plans to cover the cost of Rojas’ medical expenses and other damages, according to Mexican outlet Cronica.
Rojas, a prominent fixture on “Es Show,” started out as a content creator before joining the program, which is based in Monterrey, Mexico.
“Es Show” is a late-night, Spanish-language comedy and variety show with games, dancing, comedy sketches, music and celebrity guests.
A sullen Chavana apologized another time on Tuesday to reassert he is holding himself accountable for the blunder.
“Here I am to face up to it,” he said in a video posted on X by POSTA.
“I am not hiding. I am aware of the mistake I made yesterday by kicking a drone during a situation that came up on the program,” he continued.
“I offered apologies to Isabella on air and I took full responsibility for the event.”
