Children among 6 wounded in Maryland mass shooting as detectives work to determine what occurred

A mass shooting early Saturday in Maryland left six people wounded, including two children, according to local authorities.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said in a statement on X that patrol officers responded to an “unknown disturbance” at about 4:40 a.m. in the suburban community of Hanover outside Baltimore, where they found a large crowd actively dispersing and a man with a gunshot wound to his torso.

EMS took the man to a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

However, the scope of the violence quickly expanded.

Throughout the morning, detectives were notified by three different area hospitals that several walk-in victims had arrived seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.

According to police, the five additional walk-in victims included a woman with a gunshot wound to an extremity, two boys with lower extremity injuries and a man and woman with lower extremity injuries.
