Buddy Guy announces 90th birthday concert in NYC with Eric Clapton. Get tickets

Most people celebrate their 90th birthday with family or at retirement homes.
Buddy Guy is ringing his in with a splashy, star-studded show at Radio City Music Hall.
On Thursday, Oct. 1, the legendary bluesman will blow out the candles at his huge ‘Buddy’s Got The Blues’ concert right in the heart of New York City along with big-name special guests like Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Jon Batiste, Joe Bonamassa, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and more.
Just a few of the other iconic performers set to take the stage with the “Sinners” actor include Gary Clark Jr., Aloe Blacc, Robert Cray, Jimmie Vaughan and Susan Tedeschi & Derek Trucks of Tedeschi Trucks Band.
Shemekia Copeland, Samantha Fish, Eric Gales, Robert Randolph and Kenny Wayne Shepherd round out the impressive lineup.
In total, 21 artists — with more to be announced at a later date — are scheduled to join Buddy Guy at the one-night-only extravaganza.
“Can’t wait to celebrate 90 years of living, loving, and playing the Blues with all my friends,” Guy, who was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 2005, said. “We’ll make it a night not just for me, but for the folks who taught us, the friends we’ve played with, and the ones coming up behind us.”
For the record, the dexterous singer and guitarist officially turns 90 on July 30. As of now, he has that date off but, in typical Buddy Guy fashion, will perform the night after as part of his summer ‘Buddy Guy 90 Tour’ with special guests Taj Farrant and the Ally Venable Band joining him on select dates.
He’ll be at Atlantic City’s Ocean Resort Casino on Friday, July 31.
Other New York and New Jersey shows on Guy’s schedule include stops in Buffalo (July 18), Englewood (Aug. 4) and New Brunswick (Aug. 8).
These shows come on the heels of the Louisiana native’s ninth Grammy win and ‘Damn Right Farewell Tour.’ According to Set List FM, he paid respects to Muddy Waters as well as Cream, Al Green, John Hiatt and many more while on that run.
“At 88, I wondered if he might just make a brief appearance—maybe join the band for a few songs. But what unfolded was nothing short of remarkable,” Cleve Rock wrote in a review of a June 2025 Cleveland gig.
“[He] didn’t just show up—he owned the stage from start to finish. His stage presence was magnetic, the mark of a man who has lived a lifetime in front of crowds. His guitar work was sharp, expressive, and full of soul, not at all what one might expect from someone his age…[Guy] didn’t just perform—he electrified Jacobs Pavilion.”

Buddy Guy new music
On July 30, 2025 (aka Guy’s 89th birthday), Buddy Guy dropped his 20th studio album “Ain’t Done With The Blues,” which features household names like Joe Walsh, Peter Frampton and Joe Bonamassa.
Over 18 tracks, the nine-time Grammy winner more than proves he has gas left in the tank on tunes like the muscly anthem “Been There Done That,” down and dirty “Blues Chase The Blues Away,” playful ditty “Trick Bag,” twangy “Talk To Your Daughter” and downright giddy toe-tapper “Where U At.”
However, the true standout here just might be the electric “I Got Sumpin’ For You” that will knock you down flat with its groovy hook that we guarantee you won’t be able to shake for weeks.
To hear for yourself, you can find “Ain’t Done With The Blues” here.
