A parolee freed in February allegedly started a ferocious fire at an upstate New York motel and homeless shelter — killing six people, authorities said.

Tyler Russell, 24, was arrested on six counts of manslaughter and one count of arson for an inferno that decimated the Knights Inn in Endwell on Monday morning, according to New York State troopers.

Emergency responders rushed to the motel around 6 a.m. and found heavy black smoke and flames rapidly engulfing the building.

Six unidentified people were pronounced dead, cops added.

Knights Inn is one of several local hotels used by the Broome County Department of Social Services to house homeless people, WIVT reported.

Russell was previously behind bars in a state prison for two years on grand larceny charges, according to prison records obtained by Syracuse.com.

He was released on parole in February, the outlet said. It’s unclear whether he lived in Knights Inn.

Several residents of the motel were displaced by the fire, and the Red Cross is now working to help the impacted families.

An emergency relief fund organized by the United Way of Broome County for victims of the fire has also collected over $41,000 in donations.

Russell has since been booked into the Broome County Jail for his arraignment, police said.

An investigation into the fatal fire remains ongoing.
