Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani reveals gender of recently-born second child

MINNEAPOLIS – Five days after his wife gave birth to their second child, Shohei Ohtani revealed the sex of the newborn.
It’s a boy.
Ohtani hinted that was the case when he announced the birth on his Instagram account. He posted a below-the-neck photo of the child wrapped in a blue blanket.
Asked if he wanted his son to take an interest in baseball by watching him play, Ohtani said in Japanese, “I wonder. I don’t know how long I can play. For now, I want to do my best until this contract (with the Dodgers) expires.
“I think children should decide their own futures. I just want to do my best at what I do.”
Ohtani described his newborn son as “cute.”

“But I had to come on a road trip right away, so I think I’m more worried than anything.”
Ohtani and his wife, former basketball player Mamiko Tanaka, are also parents to a girl who was born last April. Shortly after she was born, Ohtani said he was experiencing “blissful sleep deprivation.”
With his family expanded, Ohtani said, “I’d like for us to happily spend time together.”
