Niners star Brandon Aiyuk plotting to avoid California over arrest warrant

Niners wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk said he’s considering avoiding California for the foreseeable future over the warrant that was issued for his arrest earlier this year.
“All right, but like, on a real serious note though,” Aiyuk said in a video he posted to his Instagram page on Friday. “Can anybody tell me if I really have a warrant out for my arrest in California?
“‘Cause my bro say he’s trying to throw in Cali, but if I got a warrant, bro, I might just stay out here then.”
Law enforcement formally obtained a warrant for Aiyuk’s arrest on Feb. 24, after authorities alleged he committed misdemeanor exhibition of speed on Dec. 20.
Lt. Eric Lagergren of the Santa Clara Police Department told The California Post earlier this month that officers discovered the offense via a video that Aiyuk shared that showed him traveling over 100 MPH in a Cadillac on a roadway near Levi’s Stadium.
“The posted speed limit in that area was listed at 40 MPH,” Lagergren said. “The video appeared to be associated with an account controlled by Brandon Aiyuk.
“Once the department was made aware of the video the SCPD Traffic Investigations Unit examined the video and others linked to the social media account. SCPD analyzed the video and determined a vehicle similar to one in the in the video was owned by Aiyuk. After completing a detailed investigation, the case was submitted to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office on January 15, 2026. The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office later issued a warrant for Aiyuk.”

It’s unclear where Aiyuk is currently residing, though he’s certainly made a habit out of being away from Northern California recently, with or without arrest warrant.
The Niners have claimed Aiyuk, who has not played in a game since injuring his knee in the 2024 season, has been MIA for months.
So much so, it’s reportedly made any possibilities of a trade involving the former first-round pick very difficult for the team.
Aiyuk has made it clear he no longer wants to play for the Niners regardless, expressing in multiple videos this month that he’d rather play for the Commanders.
In five seasons in San Francisco, Aiyuk totaled 4,305 yards and 25 touchdowns on 294 receptions.
